Flags Over Rocky Hill

The Troop raises funds through this activity by seeking $40.00 annual subscriptions.  In return, a Scout will post a 3'x5' American Flag in your front lawn on four national holidays:  Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Patriot's Day (9/11).  Subscriptions are taken year round.  

Installation is provided by a volunteer scout from Troop 121 and their parent.  The all-weather, 3'x5' Flags are mounted to a white PVC pipe.  A 2-foot long steel reinforcing bar is pounded one foot into the earth, within five feet of the curb line.  The flag mounted PVC pipe is then placed over the embedded bar, keeping the flag upright and secure, able to handle wind and rain during it's 24-hour stance on your property.  Placement commences the evening before the holiday and removed the night of.

Upon securing and also prior to removing the flag, the Scout will say the pledge of allegiance. Homeowners are welcome to join in the saying of the pledge with the Scout.
