The Scout Uniform is a universal symbol of scouting, bringing scouts together with a common thread. Aside from creating a sense of belonging, the uniform worn by Troop 121 symbolizes character development, leadership, citizenship training and personal fitness. In addition, it gives each a sense of identification and commitment.
Scout uniforms may be purchased new from the Scout Store (Coming Spring 2025), from the three major BSA Camp sites (Camp Workcoeman, JN Webster Scout Reservation, Mattatuck Scout Reservation), or online from ScoutShop.org.
Used uniforms may also be used, provided they are in good condition with no tears or stains. Sources such as Facebook Marketplace, Ebay or Craigslist are some examples. Buyers are to use common sense when meeting strangers in person.
Below is Scouting America's Field Uniform Checklist, as published July 2024, providing locations of unit and earned patch placements. Note that when a left or right is indicated in the chart below, this is to indicate from the wearer's perspective.
Merit badges are worn on a sash in the order earned, from the wearer's right to left, three across and equally spaced.
